We want to begin by hoping that all the Mom's had a great Mother's Day. It was Mrs. Crofts first, so it was super special!! :)

Now on to our week... BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! These are the words that come to mind. We are finishing up our End of the Year Testing, going on i-Ready, completing our Kindergarten Memory Books and on Friday... celebrating the Summer Birthday's!! It's also Stuffed Animal Day, so make sure they are ready for Birthday treats. :)
ooh and I almost forgot~ Malu and Haleigh brought in Fun Friday Snacks for the rest of the school year. :)

MATH
We are working on Story Problems. We are discussing story problems with Addition and with Subtraction. We'll discuss the vocabulary that will help us figure out which one to choose. Check out these videos to review the concept with your child.

WRITING
We are finishing up our Kindergarten Memory Books in preparation to go home next week. The students will be busy double checking every page is complete with writing and color details.

SAXON/ READING SKILLS
Saxon is getting ready to focus on vowel blends and R controlled vowels. Both are a tricky concept, so don't be surprised if it takes your child a while to catch on. We introduce these two concepts and in first grade they really get a chance to apply them.
Below are two video's I introduced last week in class to get everyone excited. :)
After that you will see a slideshow for our Sight Words: off, what, by & also.

READING
Our African Folktale this week is Zomo the Rabbit. (Unfortunately the video is titles Zoom the Rabbit, but I promise it's the correct story.) The students are sure to fall in love with Zomo.
We are using this book to get the students excited about International Day. We will not be focusing on any specific skills, because we have 2 more crafts to hang in the area of Africa. :)
We decided on flamingoes, African masks and gazelles.
