Attention Parents: When emailing us, please make sure to email BOTH of us. Quite a few parents are still only emailing/ responding to one teacher. When this happens and one of us is out of the room... we miss out on the information.
When it comes to your children- we are both their teachers and we both want to be informed.
Welcome to another busy week in our classroom! We want to keep you informed so make sure you read through everything we have planned. This week we have Resource on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Check out our calendar and weekly conduct sheet to see what we have. We are very excited for Western Day on Friday! Students can wear cowboy boots, cowboy hats, plaid shirts, jeans, overalls, holsters (no guns please!!). Amelia will be bringing in our Fun Friday Snacks!
SKILLS
We will be doing a lot of testing this week!! Please make sure to review sight word slideshows on the blog. Students are expected to read at least 20 words. Some of the words they will be tested on this quarter we haven't learned yet, however if they are familiar with their sounds they could sound out the words. Along with the sight words listed, we will have all the color words and number words one-five.
This weeks sights words are blue, yellow, no & me.
READING
We will be reading the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We are working hard at sequencing the events of the story and retelling the events in order from beginning. middle to the end. Also, when retelling stories we want the students to use character names. It is very tricky to understand the retelling when they say "he" for every character.
WRITING
We attempted to start the writing test last week, however when looking over the papers... I feel a few more days of practice will be good for the students grades. So practice drawing detailed people and a clear setting.
The test takes 3 writing sessions to complete and then the fourth day Ms. Bellot and I will listen to them tell us a story about their pictures.
MATH
Last week we did report card testing for rote counting up to 25, identifying numbers 0-5, recognizing groups of 0-5.
Last week we learned all about numbers 6-8, while also reviewing numbers 0-5. This week we will learn about numbers 9-10. We will practice writing these numbers too, so practice with your children as these might be new numbers for them! Below is a Cowboy Counting to 100 video in honor of Western Day on Friday! There is also another video highlighting all the different ways we've learned to show our numbers.
SCIENCE
We will continue to work on our 5 Senses during Science this week.
We had the pleasure of having Mr. Chuck E. Cheese himself visit us in our classroom during our Math Center time. Everyone was so excited and got a chance to say hi and high 5 him! Enjoy the picture we got of some of the students with Chuck E.!!!!
**If you go to Chuck E Cheese, please email us a photo of your child inside Chuck E Cheese. Either at a game, eating pizza or posing with Chuck E!!. **
We had so much fun on Sunglasses Day! It was so cool seeing everyone in their different sunglasses. Everyone was very responsible while wearing them. They even wore them during recess! Enjoy the pictures of everyone who participated :)
Today a packet is going home. The packet is for our school's Online Fundraiser!!
Sign up your child at: www.schoolstore.net. Our school id is 198219. Once you are all registered, email friends and family that can support your child. :)
Then they and YOU can visit SchoolStore.com to check out the items to purchase and donations to give to our school. Plus there are outside retailers too!
***Check out the packet for more information!! This fundraiser is sure to be a huge success!!***
This accomplishment may not be a lot to an outsider... but to a Kindergarten Teacher this is HUGE!!! We have to teach and model what to do in a Center. Then we role play and finally we allow the students to model for the class. We've been doing this awhile and all the hard work has paid off! They did AMAZING in Centers.
Now the only thing we need to work on is the students remembering what Center Group they are in. haha We had a boy go to a Center that he thought was "fun" and a girl just sat at the run until she was walked over to her Center.
Below you'll notice the Center Groups, along with a few pictures during Reading Centers. :) Enjoy!!
We wanted to give a big shout out to the students and parents that participated in today's Walk to School Event. :) We thank you for waking up early and getting your steps in!!
Thank you Ashton, Michael, Braden, Amelia and Cayson
