Week of October 7
Welcome to another busy week in our classroom! We want to keep you informed so make sure you read through everything we have planned. This week we have Resource on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Check out our calendar and weekly conduct sheet to see what we have. We are very excited for Western Day on Friday! Students can wear cowboy boots, cowboy hats, plaid shirts, jeans, overalls, holsters (no guns please!!). Amelia will be bringing in our Fun Friday Snacks!
SKILLS
We will be doing a lot of testing this week!! Please make sure to review sight word slideshows on the blog. Students are expected to read at least 20 words. Some of the words they will be tested on this quarter we haven't learned yet, however if they are familiar with their sounds they could sound out the words. Along with the sight words listed, we will have all the color words and number words one-five.
This weeks sights words are blue, yellow, no & me.

READING
We will be reading the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We are working hard at sequencing the events of the story and retelling the events in order from beginning. middle to the end. Also, when retelling stories we want the students to use character names. It is very tricky to understand the retelling when they say "he" for every character.

WRITING
We attempted to start the writing test last week, however when looking over the papers... I feel a few more days of practice will be good for the students grades. So practice drawing detailed people and a clear setting.
The test takes 3 writing sessions to complete and then the fourth day Ms. Bellot and I will listen to them tell us a story about their pictures.

MATH
Last week we did report card testing for rote counting up to 25, identifying numbers 0-5, recognizing groups of 0-5.
Last week we learned all about numbers 6-8, while also reviewing numbers 0-5. This week we will learn about numbers 9-10. We will practice writing these numbers too, so practice with your children as these might be new numbers for them! Below is a Cowboy Counting to 100 video in honor of Western Day on Friday! There is also another video highlighting all the different ways we've learned to show our numbers.
SCIENCE
We will continue to work on our 5 Senses during Science this week.
