Welcome to a busy week in our class and outside of our class! This week we have the National Walk to School event happening on Tuesday, Oct.1. On Friday, Oct. 4, we have our school fundraiser night for the Safety Patrols at Chuck E. Cheese. :) We both plan on participating in both events, so we hope to see all of you too!
We have quite a few Resources this week. Make sure to check them out on the Calendars and the Weekly Conduct Sheet. On Friday we will have Sunglasses Day!! Also, Noah is bringing in Fun Friday Snacks for the Class.

SKILLS
We are beginning Report Card Testing. Please make sure to look back at your child's detailed Progress Report and see the items that they haven't mastered. We will be retesting all the items that were not mastered.
So practice name writing, letter names and sounds and SIGHT WORDS!! Sight Words were not tested at Progress Report Time and students are expected to read 20 at this time.
Our Sight Words for the week are purple, pink, to & and.
We have a new dum dum Reading Challenge book to work on and we are skipping our predictable chart this week to focus on a Poem~ The Hat.

READING
We are continuing to work on retelling stories in the order that the events occur. Some students are doing better at retelling/ comprehension, however some students are still struggling. Make sure to watch the books and review them with your child~ you are their best teacher!!
Our book is The Three Little Pigs. A beloved classic that always entertains the students!!
**Make sure to watch the story before you discuss it with your child. There are many different versions and this one may be different than the one you are familiar.**

WRITING
We are beginning our testing pictures. The students are expected to draw a character and setting of their choice and tell a story about the picture. Please remember that a "this is... this is... story" is not a real story.

MATH
We will also begin retesting for report cards on all our math items, including rote counting up to 25, number writing 0-5, identifying counting sets 0-5, and recognizing numbers 0-5. Please continue working with your children to master the items they did not during Progress Report time.
This week in math, we will be introducing numbers 6-8! This is exciting as our students will have more numbers to work with on independent problem sets. Continue using our counting to 100 songs to practice, so your children can join the 100 Club!!! Below there is also a video a subitizing, a skill we constantly work on and will help with the students identifying counting sets.

SCIENCE
In science we will continue to explore our 5 senses, focusing on our hearing and tasting.
